Biography

Lau Yung is enthusiastic violin player whom actives in solo, chamber and orchestral playing.


Lau Yung Kevin is undergraduate music student in Hong Kong Baptist University. He majors in violin performance with Mr. Ray Tsoi. He had also been studying with Ms. Lesilie RyangMoonsun and Daniel Chan.


Lau has been in different music festival and competition. He has been awarded THIRD PRIZE in International Music Competition "Rome" Grand Prize Virtuoso 2017. Lau has also participated in Eastern Music Festival, Busan Maru International Music Festival, Asian Youth Orchestra summer festival 2016. He also obtained Trinity College London LTCL in violin performance with distinction.


Lau is an enthusiastic orchestral player. In recent years, he has been playing in The Learners Orchestra, Ponte singers & orchestra, Asian Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2016, he also joined Asian Youth Orchestra’s concert tour to perform in 11 Asian cities such as Tyoko, Taipei, Beijing, Singapore, Hanoi etc. As a chamber musician, he also played in many chamber orchestras such as Collegium Musicum Hong Kong, String Amarta, Hong Kong Music Academy String Orchestra. He has been the 2nd violin principal of Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra to show his talent in leadership. 


During these years, Lau has cooperated with many world class musicians such as Jahja Ling, Lio Kuokman, Anne Akiko Meyers, James Judd, Nicole Cabell, Thomas Robertello, Danny Driver etc. He has been participating in master class offered by well-known violinists such as Lynn Chang, Charles Castleman, Peter Spissky, QuatuorÉbène etc.
